There are few places in this world that speak to my soul quite like the coastal South. It all started with a road trip my husband I took down to Hilton Head back in 2016, where we made stops in Charleston & Savannah (among many other places along the way). Between the colorful architecture, decadent dining and slow pace of life, I was hooked. While New Orleans will always hold the biggest place in my heart (and stomach!) in regards to Southern cities I've had the pleasure of visiting, Charleston is a very close second.
With endless restaurants, rooftop bars, high-end boutiques and charming streets to stroll down, it remains a place I will continue to visit over and over again! Here, I've gathered my favorite spots for you as a quick guide to Charleston!
Breakfast:
The Park Cafe (Bright and airy cafe with an emphasis on local ingredients)
The Obstinate Daughter (Inventive fare in an elegant, country-chic space)
Lunch:
167 Raw (There is no shortage of similarities between Charleston & Nantucket, and the 167 Raw restaurant located on King St. is every bit as cool and delicious as you'd hope it would be)
Leon's Oyster Shop (Relaxed joint serving oysters, Southern-style seafood, frozen drinks & fried chicken in a laidback space with a great ambience and patio)
Dinner:
Husk (The most magical dining experience, this spot features an ever-changing menu of locally sourced Southern dishes served in a restored Victorian-era home)
Activities:
Stroll the Streets (Rainbow Row is a must-see, but Tradd Street is equally beautiful)
Rooftop Hop (The Rooftop Bar at the Vendue or the Citrus Club at the Dewberry)
Get Shoppin' (There is no shortage of charming boutiques explore in Charleston, so make a morning of it and pop into every shop along King Street)
Beaches:
Folly Beach (Located about a 20-minute drive from Charleston, this sleepy surf town is the perfect place to unwind from the city and enjoy a frozen cocktail (or two!).
